The ‘book’ of Psalms is actually divided into five books and is not one book as we believe. Also, the five books of Psalms correspond with the first five books of the bible Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and the book of Deuteronomy.
Psalms 1-150: The five books
1 - 41 = The Genesis Book - CONCERNING MAN
42 - 72 = The Exodus Book - CONCERNING ISRAEL AS A NATION
73 - 89 = The Leviticus Book - CONCERNING THE SANCTUARY
90 -106 = The Numbers Book - CONCERNING ISRAEL AND THE NATIONS OF THE EARTH
107-150 = The Deuteronomy Book - CONCERNING GOD AND HIS WORD
David wrote the 5 books of Psalms to correspond with the first 5 books of the bible which were authored by Moses.
